Board Members Reviewed IOFS Response to COVID-19
The 5th Executive Board meeting of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) took place through videoconference system on April 22. 
The meeting deliberated on various issues on its agenda, foremost among which was the recently unveiled IOFS Response to the food security crisis in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting also examined various programmes and initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and self-sufficiency in IOFS member states. 

Essentially, the meeting approved the various mechanisms and developments of strategic food commodities, the establishment of the Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA); the OIC Food Security Reserve and a framework on agri-food trade and investments among others. 
Board members commended the Government of Kazakhstan and other IOFS Member States which have so far provided emergency humanitarian assistance in the form of grains and food items with a view of cushioning the impact of such measures as lockdown and social distancing. The Board Members also appreciated the first payment of mandatory contributions paid by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

The meeting was attended by all members of the IOFS Board except for Burkina Faso. IOFS Board currently consists of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Burkina Faso, Republic of Turkey, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Republic of The Gambia and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
